The Greetings

Soulful singer-songwriter Mary has released her first EP 'The Greetings'. She wrote and composed all four songs, which she also arranged and played as well as sang in production. As the title of the EP represents, it introduces her story and music to the public. In the very first EP, Mary attempts diverse genres from her origin of music, swing, ballad, to bossa nova; every song contains its unique style and emotion. 'A Nightmare' is a dramatic piece that encapsulates Mary's unique style of music where she integrated swing and shuffle to break the boundaries between jazz and rock. Poetic metaphor in lyrics is expressed in calmly restrained way of singing with rhythmical melody which makes masterful harmony with Mary's jazzy vocal.

'Papa, Where Are You?' is the real story of Mary, a girl waiting for her father to come home alone on a rainy day. Slow-tempo bossa nova captivates listeners' heart with the mellow sound of classical guitar and Mary's unique voice, which delivers her emotions in rather simplistic lyrics which ironically maximizes the affect.

'Hello, Sweet Jelly!' sings about the comfort and support toward the old sweet jelly that has been forgotten in contemporary market, expressed by peculiar characteristics of playful theme and rhythm. The composition which oscillates between straight and bounce harmonizes with Hyukjoo's voice to boost playfulness. Funky piano solo and lovely lyrics in the ending part where Mary confesses her affection to 'sweet jelly' will keep you smile until the end of the song.

'The Pieces Of Memories', the title song, that captures Mary's soulful voice, is the tragic outburst of a woman, unable to accept the painful breakup. The lyrics that depict the remanent pieces of memories and penetrating heartbreak in reality are beautiful but mournful at the same time. Especially, the repeated catchy melody resonates with tranquil tune of guitar to create sentimental emotion. The song embraces the broken heart with the gentle and resonant solo guitar sound.

'I Need Your Hand, Now.' is Mary's truthful confession.
